Square Foot Paintings complete!
August 6, 2010

I have finished my 3 pieces for this year's Square Foot show at AWOL Gallery! These are the first paintings I've completed using GOLDEN's OPEN Acrylics from start to finish. They will be my primary paints for upcoming paintings. If you're not familiar with them they are slow drying acrylics a little similar (though not entirely) to oil paints. They are water soluble and give off no fumes but I can leave my palette open for a few hours and they don't dry out!! You may also notice that I've switched back to canvas. Wood panels may be shinier but canvas is sooo much easier to paint on with these new acrylics (and is also much lighter!!)

As I mentioned before each of these paintings will be selling for $225 with part of the proceeds going to charity. This is a deal you will only find at Square Foot. If you are looking to score one of these babies (or any of the great Square Foot artwork) you should make plans to go to the Collector's Gala. I've been to many of these shows in the past and trust me when I say they artwork at this show goes fast. There is usually a line up half way down the block to get in on opening night which is why AWOL now hosts this ticketed event.

Herb and Dorthy
July 6, 2010

Some of you with an interest in art collecting or an interest in films about art may already know of Herb and Dorthy Vogel. For those of you who don't I highly recommend checking out herbanddorthy.com

If you love art but think you can't afford to collect it the Vogels might just change your mind.

Here is a little preview of the synopsis...

Synopsis
HERB & DOROTHY tells the extraordinary story of Herbert Vogel, a postal clerk, and Dorothy Vogel, a librarian, who managed to build one of the most important contemporary art collections in history with very modest means. In the early 1960s, when very little attention was paid to Minimalist and Conceptual Art, Herb and Dorothy Vogel quietly began purchasing the works of unknown artists.
Square Foot 2010
July 6, 2010

I will be participating in this year's Square Foot show presented by AWOL Gallery where I am hoping to have 3 brand new pieces on display. I will preview them online just before the show.

I highly recommend attending the Collectors Gala to get top choice of pieces! Every artists piece will be sold for $225 each making this a fantastic opportunity to start or add to your collection.
